A first for Loughborough and Charnwood! Over 50 local businesses will be exhibiting at the Innovation InCharnwood Showcase, with the aim of celebrating the remarkable innovation taking place in Leicestershire and Charnwood. The theme of the event, ‘How to Innovate and Win’, will highlight the world-class innovation in our midst and the broad diversity of technological, scientific, manufacturing, engineering, professional services and creative businesses in Charnwood.
The audience will have the opportunity hear first-hand about the exciting innovations companies in Charnwood are working on. The showcase will feature stand-alone talks by true local innovators. 3M, Intelligent Energy, Incus Performance, Sentle and Event Engineering will be demonstrating their technologies and talking about their approach to innovation. Attendees will be able to ‘put their name down for talks’ on the day when they arrive at Loughborough Town Hall (LTH).
Innovation InCharnwood Talks
1. Using Innovation to Develop Breakthrough Medical Devices
Richard Brewer, Product Development Specialist – 3M United Kingdom PLC
One of the scientists involved in the development of 3Ms new Intelligent Control Inhaler, which was created in 3M’s research and development facilities in Loughborough, will demonstrate the product and provide insight into the NPD process.
2. Using Innovation to Enhance Top Flight Athletes’ Performance
Chris Ruddock, Managing Director - INCUS Performance
The founder of INCUS Performance, Chris Ruddock will discuss how the company is employing Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced wearable technology and data analytics to push the boundaries of insight and performance in sport. Designed and tested alongside top-flight athletes and coaches, the INCUS system facilitates the development of personalised training programmes that truly enhance athletic performance.
3. Using Innovation to Disrupt the CRM marketplace
Steven Brand, Co-founder and Product Director – Sentle
Having previously worked for Microsoft in the Xbox department, User Experience design expert Steven Brand will talk about the company’s new cloud-based client management CRM system that enables SMEs to retain clients and engage customers in a personal and meaningful new way using intuitive client data management and true multi-channel communications.
4. Using Innovation to Create Mind-Blowing Brand Experiences
Oli Folkerd, Head of Development – Event Engineering
Expert in creating experiential marketing events, Oli Folkerd will provide a taster of the marketing events the company creates for major multi-nationals and how it brings these brands to life in real time. He will demonstrate how Event Engineering go about creating bespoke experiences to truly entertain and amaze live audiences.
5 Using Innovation to Power a Sustainable Future
Dan Ninan, Head of Advanced Concepts and Prototyping at Intelligent Energy
A leader in Intelligent Energy’s Research and Product Development department, Dan Ninan will talk about how Intelligent Energy delivers low carbon power solutions, based on patented Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology, for the diesel replacement, automotive and aerial UAV (drone) markets. His talk will showcase technical innovations that have helped Intelligent Energy win customers globally in these different markets.
