Over the past year, the national and regional economic policy landscape has evolved with the publication of the Government’s Industrial Strategy Green Paper and the Midlands Engine and Midlands Connect Strategies. Together, these new initiatives will set the strategic direction for future economic policy within Leicester and Leicestershire in the period up to 2030.
This event will give the general public and local economic development stakeholders the opportunity to hear about the activity that the LLEP has undertaken over the past year and engage in a discussion about the future priorities for increasing growth and productivity across Leicester and Leicestershire.
It will also provide an overview of the Midlands Engine Vision for Growth setting out how the Midlands will drive Britain’s post-Brexit growth, as well as an insight into the future national economic policy, including the creation of new Local Industrial Strategies.

Agenda
The event will start with the LLEP’s Annual Meeting, where you will be able to find out more about the current work of LLEP.
This will include the release of the LLEP’s Annual Report and Accounts for 2016-17 and an opportunity for stakeholders to pose questions to the LLEP about its activities.
The Annual Meeting will be followed by a presentation and question and answer session on the Midlands Engine Vision for Growth strategy which has been submitted to the Prime Minister.
The final part of the event will then focus on the future economic priorities for Leicester and Leicestershire and will include a roundtable discussion about the creation of a new Local Industrial Strategy for the area to 2030.
